1935 Detroit Free Press Tiger's Composit Team Postcard
$525

Very scarce postcard features 17 portraits of the Detroit Tigers. It was produced in 1935 by the Detroit Free Press to celebrate the American League Champions, who went on to become the World Champs later that Fall. The seventeen player composit includes Hall of Famers Cochrane, Gehringer, Goslin and Greenberg.

Interestingly, all seventeen of the player poses featured on the postcard are also found in the M120 Detroit Free Press supplements issued the same year. Unlike the supplements, however, each portrait on the postcard is accompanied by a facsimile autograph to identify the player.

The postcard has not been mailed and is in very clean condition and without any major flaws on either the front or back (see high-resolution scans for better condition detail).

1919 PC799 Cincinatti Reds Postcard Group
$150
SOLD

The three cards in this group are from a postcard set issued in 1919 to commemorate that year's World Series Champion Cincinatti Reds. They are part of a 24 card set, and include the team's manager (Pat Moran) along with a pitcher (Eddie Gerner) and catcher (Nick Allen) from the set.

The cards are in great condition. They do show some signs of wear and light age spotting on the backs, but display well above average for a century-old set (see high-resolution images for grading detail).

Further details about the 1919 PC799 Cincinatti Reds Postcard Set are provided on the Old Cardboard website.

1909 S & H Green Stamps Pirates
$1,025

This unique and very rare postcard featurs 23 portraits of the much-celebrated 1909 Pittsburgh Pirates World Championship team, including Honus Wagner, Fred Clarke, Vic Willis, and team owner Barney Dreyfuss.

The postcard was issued by S&H Green Stamps Company of New York City.

During the operation's peak in the 1960s, the redemption catalog printed by the company was the most widely distributed publication in the United States. Further, the company issued three times as many stamps as the U.S. Postal Service.

The postcard is in very nice ovaerall condition and without major flaws. There is some corner wear and surface wear on the front resulting in small white "speckles" but mainly affecting the portraits of Bill Abstein (middle right) and Barney Dreyfus (bottom right). See high resolution scans for a closer look.

Further details about the 1909 S & H Green Stamps Pirates card and its producer are provided here.
