Gum Card Wrappers For Sale
$290 Both of the wrappers offered here were used to package and distribute cards in the 1959 R418-1 Fleer "Ted Williams" set. As indicated on the wrappers, the two key variations were the number of cards that were wrapped for distribution: one wrapper held 6 cards and the other held 8 cards (see examples above). Both of the wrapped packs sold for 5 cents. Both of these examples are in good condition with moderate wrinkling and without any significant tears, stains, etc. Please contact us with any questions.
(Extremely Rare) The 1933 R333 DeLong Gum set is among the first and most desirable prewar baseball gum card issues. It only had 24 cards and was produced for just one year, which no doubt explains the extreme rarity of its wrappers today. The offered example is in very nice condition with moderatae signs of wear and a slight tear (puncture) near the runner's left foot. Overall, a very appealing gold and red display without any other tears, stains, or significant flaws.
Please contact us with any questions.
$775 These 1930 wrappers were used to package and distribute the PR4 Button Gum Pinbacks. The one-cent wrapper held gum and one pinback and measures 5 by 7 inches. This rare wrapper is historically intriguing in that it helps to answer questions about the origins of the well known PR4 Button Gum set. The set has long been considered to have been originally packed in boxes of Cracker Jack brand confections. However, the wrapper clearly illustrates the pin of "Kiki" Cuyler and firmly establishes the set as being produced by Button Gum. The wrapper shows signs of wear but displays very nicely. A great addition to any collector of the Button Gum set. Please contact us with any questions.
$340 Both of the 1933 Goudey Sport Kings wrappers offered here were used to package and distribute the 1933 R338 Goudey "Sport Kings" set. As displayed on the wrappers, premiums were offered for leading stars in each of eight sports: (1) boxing-Dempsey, (2) baseball-Ruth, (3) golf-Sarazen, (4) tennis-Tilden, (5) wrestling-Londos, (6) football-Grange, (7), swimming-Weissmuller and (8) hockey-Morenz. Both of these examples are in good condition with moderate wrinkling and without any significant tears, stains, etc. Please contact us with any questions.
1933 Goudey Wrappers -- Set of Eight Variations
The scarce 1933 Goudey wrappers were used to distribute the iconic Goudey "Big League Chewing Gum" baseball card issue. The set was the first major baseball-card set packaged with gum and helped set the stage for the thriving baseball-card hobby that followed. Over the course of the distribution, at least eight variations of the wrapper are known to have been used (see examples above; click to enlarge). The variations are based on several main components: (1) the graphic at the center of the card (either a drawing of a Batter or an Ad promoting the wrappers themselves; 1st row in labeling above), or (2) the content of the panels across the top and bottom sections of the wrapper. The top and bottom panels contain either combinations of drawings of generic players, or combinations of corner tabs used to redeem for premiums. All wrappers are complete and intact without significant tears, stains or other flaws (see hi-res scans). Overall, they are in above average condition. Please contact us with any questions.
$220 These 1955 Bowman wrappers were used to package and distribute the 1955 R406-10 Bowman (Color TV) cards. The one-cent wrapper held gum and one card and measures 5 by 5-1/2 inches. The 5-cent wrapper was distributed with "6 official picture cards" and measures 5 by 6 inches. The 1-cent example has some discoloration and wrinkles on the upper left part of the wrapper. The 5-cent wrapper displays very nicely (see scans for details). Overall, an appealing combo. Please contact us with any questions.
$290 These 1954 Bowman wrappers were used to package and distribute the 1952 R406-9 Bowman cards. The 1-cent wrapper is dated; the 5-cent variation is not. The 1-cent wrapper held gum along with one card. It measures 5 by 6 inches. The 5-cent wrapper was distributed with 5 or 6 cards (not specified on the wrapper) and measures 5 by 6-1/4 inches. Both wrappers are very clean and bright. The 1-cent example has a misssing piece (triangular; about 1 inche each side) on the right edge (clearly visible in the scans--click image to enlarge). The 5-cent wrapper has very small chips at or near the left corners and a 1-inch tear at top left that has been professionally taped on the back (see scans for details). Please contact us with any questions.
$1140 These 1952 Bowman wrappers were used to package and distribute the 1952 R406-6 Bowman cards. The rare one cent wrapper held gum and one card and measures 4-1/8 by 4-3/4 inches. The even rarer 5-cent wrapper was distributed with "6 official picture cards" and measures 4-1/4 by 5-1/4 inches. Both wrappers are very clean and bright. The 1-cent example displays as near mint. The 5-cent wrapper has very small chips at or near the left corners and a 1-inch tear at top left that has been professionally taped on the back (see scans for details). Please contact us with any questions.
$570 This 1951 Bowman wrapper was used to package and distribute the 1951 R406-5 Bowman cards. The wrapper measures 4 by 4-3/4 inches. A very clean and bright example without any significant flaws (see scans for details).
$380 This wrapper is the first of three designs used to package and distribute the 1934-36 R318 National Chicle baseball card series. It was used to distribute gum and cards in the R318 Low Number subset. The wrapper text describes several coupon redemption awards ranging from patches (40 coupons) to baseballs (100 coupons) to baseball shirts (175 coupons) to complete uniforms (275 coupons). One coupon was printed on each 1-cent wrapper. A note on the wrapper states that the coupon was void after October 15, 1934. Good overall condition with creasing consistent with its original use (see scans for details).
$260 This 1935 Goudey wrapper was used to distribute the 1935 R321 Goudey cards. Good overall condition with two "dings" on the upper right corner and along the left edge (see scans for details).
$270 Very little is known about this exceedingly obscure baseball-related candy wrapper. The wrapper has been erroneously linked to the 1934-36 R318 Batter-Up high number series produced by the National Chicle Company. More recent research, however, links it directly (and only) to the Paul F. Beich Candy Company in Bloomington, IL as clearly stated on the offered wrapper. BONUS: this lot also includes a period postcard that pictures the factory in which the candy contained in this wrapper was manufactured. Good overall condition with only creases resulting from the original packaging. Small chip missing in upper right corner (see scan for detail). Truly a rare must-have item for any vintage wrapper collection. Further details about the Beich Batter-Up Candy Wrapper are provided on the Old Cardboard website.
$125 Offered here is a W533 Berk Ross baseball opened wax pack wrapper. Used as wrapper for Berk Ross "Hit Parade of Champions" card set. Good overall condition with two small holes on one right of wrapper (see hi-res scans for details).

The top and bottom edges of the wrapper were serated when they were produced. The wrapper is in great overall condition with the normal creases resulting from the original packaging.
