PC798-2 "Baseball Plays off the Diamond"

The five postcards shown here are from the twelve-card PC798-2 series as listed in the American Card Catalog. The top three quarters of the cards display a drawing with a non-baseball theme. A smaller image at the bottom carries a baseball theme related to the title of the card. The two images are related only by the card title, which is located at the top.

Condition is good for posted postcards; one card off center and one with ink mark at front top (see pics).

PC798-5 "Summertime" Comic Postcards

This lot contains two baseball comic postcards from the twelve-card "Summertime" set identified in the American Card Catalog as set PC798-5 The backdrop for the players pictured on all cards is a large ball of yellow sun. More details about the Summertime Set are provided on the Old Cardboard website.

The cards are in good overall condition but have been mailed and have visible light stains on the left side (see scans for detail).

PC798-6 "Baseball with Embossed Edges" Comic Postcards

This lot contains four baseball comic postcards from the twelve-card "Baseball with Embossed Edges" set identified in the American Card Catalog as set PC798-6. One of three designs is printed in a narrow panel across the top. A much larger area below contains a baseball illustration for the card along with a related caption.

The cards are in very good overall condition. All four have been mailed and have messages written on the backs (see scans for detail).

PC798-8 Red Trim Series Postcards

The three postcards shown here are from the twelve-card PC798-8 series as listed in the American Card Catalog. All of the cards display a large black & white drawing with a non-baseball theme in the upper middle. A smaller image in the lower right corner carries a baseball theme. The two images are related only by the card title, which is located to the left of the smaller image.

A red border frames the postcard. Within the top border are thirteen baseballs. Three balls and three bats are printed in red across the bottom of each card.

All three card have messages written on the backs and have been posted. Fortunately, all three have survived the postal system and remain in remarkable condition (see scans for detail).

PC798-10 Baseball Lovers (Sepia; Roth & Langley) Comic Postcards

This lot contains three baseball comic postcards from the twelve-card "Baseball Lovers (Sepia; Roth & Langley) Comic Postcards" set identified in the American Card Catalog as set PC798-10. The set (including variations) is the largest of several series referred to generically as "Baseball Lovers" sets. The cards are printed in both vertical and horizontal designs.

Considering that these cards navigated the US Postal System more than 110 years old, they are in good overall condition. Two of the three have been mailed and have messages written on the backs (see hi-res scans for detail).

PC798-12 Baseball Terms Illustrated (Boston Post Series)

The six postcards shown here are from the twelve-card PC798-12 series as listed in the American Card Catalog. All cards feature attractibe color graphics and were distributed as supplements to the Boston Sunday Post.

None of the six cards have ever been mailed and are in very good condition on the fronts and backs.
