$135 Consolidation of three volumes under the title of Encyclopedia of Baseball Cards, written and originally published by Lew Lipset in the mid-1980s. Provides the foundation for any vintage card collector's library. We have obtained a small number of Lipset's Encyclopedia. They are new copies of the three volumes combined into a single durable softcover binding. It is considered absolute must reading by most vintage collectors. The three volumes cover all important card sets in three key collecting groups: 19th century cards (N-cards), early gum and candy issues (E-cards) and 20th century tobacco cards (T-cards).
$210 Offered here is the very first issue of the Beckett Monthly Baseball Card Price Guide, with extensive 1984 prices for individual cards from numerous sets from 1948 Bowmans through 1984 Topps. The magazine is in excellent shape with very slight wrinkling in the lower left corner. Otherwise, its like new, without any tears, stains or markings inside.
$265 This lot includes Sports Illustrated Magazine's First and Second Weekly Issues (August 16 and August 23, 1954). True pieces of sports history, the first issues include special bound-in 3-page foldouts. Issue #1 features 27 baseball card images using the designs of the 1954 Topps regular issue. It includes players selected from all 16 Major League teams except the New York Yankees. The players include such superstars as Ted Williams, Jackie Robinson, Willie Mays and Duke Snider. Issue #2 features exclusively 27 members of the New York Yankee roster (including Mickey Mantle, Yogi Berra and Whitey Ford and more). Both magazines are in great condition with the colorful card pages fully bound into the magazine. BONUS: Issue #30 of Old Cardboard magazine with a fully illustrated article about the first two SI issues is included with this lot (see reference below).
