Originating from a local newspaper, the 1948 Philadelphia Bulletin Richie Ashburn represents the Hall of Famer's earliest and rarest baseball collectibles appearance. Additionally, Ashburn also appears on another 1948 issue, the M114 Baseball Magazine Supplement. The earliest mainstream card picturing Ashburn originates from the 1949 Bowman set. Another 1949 set which includes Ashburn is the Eureka Sportstamps set, which includes only National League ballplayers. Finally, Richie Ashburn also appears in an extremely rare regional issue also from 1949, the Lumis Peanut Butter Phillies set.
