The earliest cards picturing Albert Spalding were produced during the 1872 season in both a Cabinet Card and CDV format by Warren Studios in Boston. Several years later, another extremely scarce image of Spalding was included within the 1879-80 New York Clipper Woodcuts series. Although only one example is known to exist, the earliest traditional baseball card depicting Spalding was included within the 1888 G & B Chewing Gum set. Subsequently, a commemorative postcard of Spalding was included by the Baseball Hall of Fame as part of their 1939-43 Sepia Postcards issue.
