Although it is an extremely scarce issue, the 1879-80 N.Y. Clipper Woodcut picturing Roger Connor marks his earliest individual appearance on a baseball collectible. The first traditional baseball card picturing Connor originates from the 1886 Old Judge - New York tobacco set. In addition, Connor also appears on an 1886 J. Wood Studios Cabinet card as part of a group of New York players photographed by the famous local studio. Another very scarce issue featuring a card of Connor was the 1886 Kalamazoo Bats series. Finally, another early card of Connor was produced during the 1887-90 time frame by the Old Judge cigarette brand.
